If you have teeth that are chipped, cracked, discolored, or misarranged, dental bonding may be right for you.
During the dental bonding procedure, Dr. Guffey and his associates will prepare the tooth by lightly etching the surface and applying a bonding liquid. Once the liquid sets, they will apply a plastic resin and sculpt it into the desired shape. Once the resin sets, the doctor will trim, smooth, and polish the resin to a natural, tooth-like appearance.
The bonding procedure can often be completed in a single office visit, and can significantly improve the appearance of a tooth. However, since the plastic resin used is not as strong as your natural tooth enamel, it is more likely than natural teeth to stain, chip, and break. Dental bonding typically lasts three to five years before repair is needed.
